Micronutrient fertilisers are essential for increasing crop yields, along with the major macronutrient fertilisers.<\/strong> <\/em>The effectiveness of the absorption of essential micronutrients is directly dependent on their presence in the plant. They are necessary for plants in small quantities. The content of micronutrients is in thousands and ten-thousandths of per cent of the plant mass, but each of them performs certain functions in metabolism and nutrition and cannot be replaced by another element.<\/span><\/p>\n

Today, farmers in almost all agricultural regions of the world face many challenges: permanent natural hazards, rising costs of resources, etc.<\/span><\/p>\n

In each country, there are certain features of the functioning of agriculture. For example, European farmers are not much easier now, even taking into account the subsidies from the European Union. Arab countries do not have fertile soils, the African continent suffers from heat every year, and Australia suffers from sharp climatic fluctuations from year to year. However, it is still possible to positively influence the situation and resist the challenges described above.<\/span><\/p>\n

Qualitative changes in all production stages (from fertilisation to processing) will help allow achieving two key objectives:<\/b><\/p>\n

    \n
  1. Develop our own, truly effective technology through scientifically based research.<\/span><\/li>\n
  2. Increase profitability by rational use of resources, implementation of innovative solutions, and efficient operation in the field of sale or processing of the crop.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

    In the agricultural sector, there are fundamental principles that must be followed, for example, scientifically based fertilizer rates for sowing, because without them it is impossible to get a good harvest.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

    If you do not provide the application of a sufficient amount of fertilisers and pesticides under crops or directly in the growth phase, then in the future it will be impossible to get a good result. An experienced field manager always knows what and when to apply. Another thing is when we are talking about the so-called “little things”, which, if constantly neglected, turn into big problems. For example, if we deviate from the technological map, which prescribes all aspects of cultivation and neglect some aspects of this technology, then in the future it can turn into big problems.<\/span><\/p>\n

    The use of micronutrient fertilisers has a positive effect on the main plant nutrition processes, and increases the percentage of assimilation of macronutrients and the resistance of plants to adverse environmental conditions. The main micronutrients are boron, manganese, molybdenum, copper, zinc, and iron.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

    Farmers,<\/span> regardless of the location of their fields or the crops they grow, are united by one common goal: to produce high-quality and high-yield crops. Micronutrients fertilisers are one of the best tools available to farmers to help improve both the quantity and quality of their yields.<\/span><\/p>\n

    Throughout the entire growth and development period, a plant`s organism needs a complex of micronutrients. In terms of dry matter, its content is not more than one-thousandth of a part of a plant, but they are very useful and play an important role in increasing the activity of enzymes that catalyze biological and chemical processes.<\/span><\/p>\n

    In addition, with the help of micronutrients, complex compounds are formed from nucleic acids, which affect the properties of cells, root development, the formation of reproductive organs, etc. They are involved in such processes as respiration, photosynthesis (carbohydrate, fat and protein metabolism)<\/em><\/strong>, enzymes and acids formation, the process of nitrogen fixation, the conversion of phosphorus compounds, and the development of rhizobia.<\/span><\/p>\n

    The availability of micronutrient fertilisers has increased significantly with the adequate supply of macronutrients to plants and the increased use of macronutrient fertilisers. This is why, with the application of high doses of nitrogen-containing fertilisers, the need for plants in such micronutrients as copper, boron, molybdenum, and zinc increases. The availability of fertilizers containing phosphorus for plants increases with the presence of molybdenum and zinc. After liming in acidic soils, the availability of copper, boron, and zinc decreases, but the mobility of molybdenum increases. Because of this, micronutrients are often used separately, in order to be able to apply them to provide the plant with the necessary nutrients at a specific point in time and not harm it. This is more so because these micronutrients contain acids, metals, sulfates, and other substances, the introduction of which requires the observance of certain doses. Micronutrient fertilisers typically contain such micronutrients as boron, manganese, molybdenum, copper, zinc, and iron.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

    Today, many farms often use salts of mineral compounds, or their soluble mixture in a tank, or as a single-component micronutrient, due to their low cost and availability. These are mainly copper sulfate, manganese, zinc, cobalt, ammonium molybdate, crystallized iodine solution, ammonium-sodium vanadate, borax, or boric acid. The advantage of sulfates is that they also supply sulfur and sulfate ions to the plant, which are quickly absorbed by plants. However, when used in the fields, the mineral salt of micronutrients is inferior in efficiency to micronutrients of chelated compounds. This is because the doses of chelates are ten times smaller than those of mineral salts, although they provide the same yield increase.<\/span><\/p>\n

    In recent years, the most popular fertiliser has been considered to be a fertiliser based on micronutrients and synthetically derived organic acids. The use of micronutrients is primarily a more efficient, convenient, and cost-effective way to provide plants with the necessary micronutrients,<\/strong> which have a positive effect on strengthening immunity and accelerating growth processes. The benefits of micronutrients have already been recognized by millions of farmers.<\/span><\/p>\n

    Chelated micronutrient fertilisers are made with organic acids that are chemically identical to the natural components of living cells. They also participate in metabolic processes that occur in plants, especially in the Calvin and Krebs cycles.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

    How does this process work? When plants encounter chelated micronutrients, they take them as a natural source of not only the necessary biological micronutrients but also as a source of beneficial energy. Synthetic chelates, on the other hand, are virtually unknown in the environment. As a result, plants expend a lot of energy to process or remove foreign synthetic ligands in their bodies during assimilation. Their task is only to serve as a transport for biological micronutrients in the plant. When chelated compounds are used, the plant “takes” only the nutrient it needs, and the chelator (in this case, excess ballast)<\/strong> <\/em>enters the soil.<\/span><\/p>\n

    Here at Wonder, we use glycine amino acids to produce liquid micronutrient fertilisers. Glycine plays a major role in cell protection from the effects of dehydration (or excess of salt). This amino acid is also used for the complex micronutrients in fertilisers. Because the glycine molecule is much smaller than the molecule of chelating agents that are commonly used (e.g. EDTA, EDDHA),<\/em><\/strong> fertilisers that contain it have a higher concentration of micronutrients.<\/span><\/p>\n

    Quite often, agronomists overlook such a key aspect as the quality of working solutions. It is a common practice when products of well-known brands either do not work as claimed by the manufacturer, or to achieve the desired effect, it is necessary to significantly increase the application rate, and therefore pay additional costs. The reason for this may be the excessive hardness of the water used to prepare working solutions, inappropriate pH of the water for mixing, insufficient mixing of the product in the tank, and certain shortcomings in the technology, such as windblown and runoff of the solution from the leaf surface of plants.<\/span><\/p>\n

    That is why the use of spreaders, wetting agents, and stickers must be an essential element of a quality process of plant protection and fertilisation. The combination of these products allows you to keep the working solution on the leaf surface and prolong its action by absorbing atmospheric moisture and, accordingly, assimilation by plants.<\/span><\/p>\n

    At the same time, it is important to ensure the normal acidity of the water for solutions. When using water with a pH of 7 and above<\/strong>, the effectiveness of many products decreases by 30-50% within a few hours.<\/span><\/p>\n

    The total cost of these additional and beneficial additives does not exceed $2-2.5\/ha<\/strong> with the use of 200 liters of water\/ha, providing tens of times higher economic effect with an increased index of transmission of nutrients to plants.<\/span><\/p>\n

    It is important to take into account weather and climatic conditions, phases of growth and development of the plant, and the needs of each crop for individual elements.<\/span><\/p>\n

    For example, many agricultural crops suffer from a lack of phosphorus in the soil in early spring. The effect of lowering temperatures blocks the availability of this macroelement in the soil, so the use of foliar fertilisation can help to correct the temporary manifestation of the deficiency of this element. It is important to note that if phosphorus is combined with zinc, it will additionally accelerate growth.<\/span><\/p>\n

    This article is written to review the aim of reviewing the main advantages of using micronutrient fertilisers. To sum up, it can be said that the production of micronutrient fertilizers is very promising today. In fact, they are one of the most effective means for an agricultural producer to influence the productivity of a crop and the quality of the product. This is because their use is not only an advantage in terms of improving the quality of seed but is also profitable, which is of great importance for agricultural producers around the world. At the same time, fertilisers <\/span>with micronutrients improve the soil balance.<\/span><\/p>\n
